3 tips for finding joy in springtime even when you’re not feeling it initially:

Spend time with nature: Spring is a time of renewal and growth in nature. Even if you’re not naturally inclined to feel joy during this season, spending time outdoors and observing the beauty of blooming flowers, budding trees, and chirping birds can uplift your spirits. Take a walk in a park, visit a botanical garden, or simply sit in your backyard or balcony and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of spring.

  • Practice being grateful: Sometimes, the simple act of focusing on what you’re grateful for can shift your perspective and help you find joy in the present moment. Make a list of things you appreciate about springtime, whether it’s the longer daylight hours, the warmer weather, or the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities. Cultivating a mindset of gratitude can help you notice the small joys that spring brings, even if you’re not initially feeling it.
  • Create Springtime Activities: This could involve anything from planting a garden, having a spring cleaning day, or indulging in seasonal treats like picnics or ice cream outings. By incorporating these rituals into your routine, you can create moments of joy and anticipation that are unique to this time of year.

Using your creativity and imagination can be incredibly effective in relieving stress for several reasons:

  1. Distraction from Stressful Thoughts: Engaging in creative activities shifts your focus away from stressors and negative thoughts. When you’re immersed in a creative task, your mind becomes absorbed in the present moment, giving you a break from worries and anxieties.
  • Outlet for Expression: Creativity provides a healthy outlet for expressing emotions. Whether it’s through art, writing, music, or any other creative medium, you have the opportunity to channel your feelings in a constructive way. This can help release pent-up tension and emotions, leading to a sense of relief and catharsis.
  • Sense of Accomplishment: Completing a creative project, no matter how big or small, can give you a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. This boost in self-esteem can counteract feelings of stress and helplessness, promoting a more positive mindset. Don’t forget to share your masterpiece with us using #Escape2HappinessIsland! I  can’t wait to see the unique havens of happiness you create.
  • Mindfulness and Relaxation: Engaging in creative activities  involves being fully present in the moment, similar to mindfulness practices. Whether you’re painting, writing, or crafting, you become deeply focused on the task at hand, which can induce a state of relaxation and calmness.
  • Exploration of Possibilities: Creativity encourages you to explore new ideas, perspectives, and possibilities. This openness to experimentation can broaden your outlook and help you find solutions to problems that may be causing stress. It encourages flexibility and adaptability, which are essential for coping with challenging situations.

Do not live your life with regrets- here re some tips

Do not let regrets, stop you from moving on and living your life to the full. Remember  It’s natural to make mistakes and experience regrets.

What’s important is how you respond to them and whether you use them as stepping stones to a better future.

Photo by Nina Uhlikova on Pexels.com

Instead of dwelling on them, use them as opportunities for growth and learning. Reflect on what you could have done differently and apply those lessons to future decisions and a better life.

Here are some tips:-

  1. Focus on the positive aspects of your life and be grateful for the experiences, relationships, and opportunities you have. Gratitude can help you appreciate what you have and reduce regrets about what you don’t.
  2. Avoid dwelling on the past or worrying too much about the future. Embrace the present moment and make the most of it.
  3. Regrets often stem from unresolved conflicts or neglected relationships. Communicate openly, forgive when necessary, and make an effort to maintain meaningful connections with others.
  4. Be honest with yourself about your desires, beliefs, and feelings, and live in a way that reflects your true self.
  5. If you’re struggling with significant emotional or psychological issues, don’t hesitate to seek the assistance of a therapist or counselor. Addressing these issues can prevent future regrets and improve your overall well-being
  6. Life is full of changes and uncertainties. Embrace them as opportunities for growth and new experiences, rather than fearing them.

These tips have been adapted from the top regrets of the dying. They are tips which I myself try to live by, Enjoy and make the most of your life right now for no one knows what tomorrow holds. Search amazon and get a copy of my latest book Escape 2 Happiness Island.

How to enjoy your holidays without thinking about work

Right now, I am feeling much better knowing that for 2 weeks I am going to be away on holidays, and I aim to make the most of this opportunity as have not done this since about 1994. Last week I have been stressed with work, trying to finish things and get myself organised. Most of it was really due to my own poor time management.

Some tips on how we can plan to enjoy a holiday without thinking about work:

You deserve this holiday :- Acknowledge that you have worked hard for this and deserve a holiday

Set boundaries: Before you go on holiday, set clear boundaries with your colleagues, clients, and boss. Let them know that you won’t be available for work-related matters during your time off.

Delegate tasks: If you’re in a leadership position, delegate tasks to your team members before you leave. This will help ensure that everything is taken care of in your absence, and you won’t feel guilty about not being available.

Plan activities: Plan activities and outings that you enjoy doing to keep your mind occupied. Whether it’s hiking, sightseeing, or visiting museums, make sure that you have something to look forward to.

Disconnect: Turn off your work phone and email notifications. You don’t have to completely disconnect, but try to limit your time checking your work messages.

Practice mindfulness: Focus on the present moment and enjoy the experience of being on holiday. Practice mindfulness techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or yoga to help clear your mind and reduce stress.

Don’t over-schedule: Allow yourself some downtime during your holiday. It’s okay to relax and do nothing for a while. You don’t have to fill every moment with activities and sightseeing.

Set a work-free period: If you’re unable to completely disconnect from work during your holiday, set a specific time period each day to check in. For example, limit it to 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening, and then focus on enjoying the rest of your day.

Fun ways to celebrate National I Want You to Be Happy Day!

As Confident Queen, my mission since 2009 has been to help as many people as I can to have a reason to smile each day through the various activities I run. This is because there was a period in my life when it was all dark and I felt like a bird trapped in a cage with no way out due to some personal challenges I was going through. I am happy that after some time, I had the courage to ask for help from family, friends and various organisations which helped me regain my zest for life. Even just before Christmas I lost my mum and two two other very close family members. Though it has been devastating and for the last 3 months, things have been tough, I am slowly getting my smile back and I continue to go around various organisations spreading laughter and good vibes.

National I Want You to Be Happy Day is here to celebrate the idea that the world is a better place when we all work together to make other people happy. Although its not possible to change someone’s entire life in just a moment, but it’s certainly easy enough to make their day a little brighter by simple gestures  It can make all the difference between having a completely hard day and turning up as a ray of sunshine on their cloudy day.

Scientists have even shown  that when people help others. Oxytocin, dopamine and serotonin are all released in what’s called the “helper’s high”, which is the good feeling  someone gets from helping another person and watching them be happy.

Why I want you to be happy

I want you to be happy  and confident  because I  care about you and want the best for you.   I know  from my own experience that our happiness and confidence can have a positive impact on others around you, creating a more positive and uplifting environment for everyone.

Feeling happy and confident can have many positive benefits. It can improve your mental health and well-being, increase your productivity and creativity, and help you build stronger relationships with others. When you’re happy and confident, you’re more likely to have a positive outlook on life and be able to handle challenges and setbacks in a better way.

Fun things to do to make you feel happy

Say these affirmations our loud a couple of time make sure you mean what you say, you can even use your own.

Create a laughie and send to someone to cheer them up

Slow down and Enjoy life

One thing #Covid19 has taught some of us is to #SlowdDown and take stock of our lives. “A dog has four feet, but it doesn’t try to walk down four roads! So slow down and establish a pace that’s sane and sustainable.” UCB Word for today.

I must say at the start of #COVID19 I was very stressed as I am usually a busy bee, combining running my business, working part time as an employee, looking after my sons, managing the home, taking part in various community events and spending time with my elderly parents. I felt frustrated that I was stuck at home with nothing to do.

By the second week, I started to ponder about life, and it then occurred to me that this period was also for me to slow down, and reflect on the things I was doing and why I was doing them.

I set up new priorities with the aim of firstly to take care of my health and enjoying the time I have with my family. I even joined a walking group and started walking 2 hours every saturday and at least 1 hour every other day during the week. I loved our walks as it connected me with nature, we discovered some amazing places locally and connected with may new friends.

So please take care of you and slow down. Your health is wealth. Your family needs you and someone out their needs your smile and encouragement.

I use this guided meditation i found on youtube to help me pause and recharge – why not give it a try https://youtu.be/8Xdwr4cRTVA

Celebrate another day being alive

Despite all the uncertainties of life, it is a blessing to wake up and see another day. It is also time to think about those our loved once who are no longer with us, and cherish the memories we shared.

I am at a good stage in my life right now, I don’t have all I want, but I have all I need. I am content and make the most of life as it is, and I hope you too will have the strength and courage to take one day at time.

Here are some of my daily affirmations I say out loud every morning, I have them also printed on my way as a daily reminder. Please take care of you, stay positive and keep smiling.

  1. Do whatever is necessary to let yourself be happy. Give yourself permission to pursue your own happiness.
  2. Stay connected with friends and family
  3. Express how you feel and don’t bottle up your emotions.
  4. Stop working too hard at a job that is not fulling – find a way to make the job interesting or plan to leave or have other interesting hobbies that you can focus when you are away from your job.
  5. Be true to yourself and not what others expect of you. Let the haters hate and the doubters doubt.
  6. Share the love, and encourage someone today, give the a reason to smile.
  7. Ask for help and don’t suffer in silence

I would love it if you could join me on my 15 minutes sessions – Escape to Happiness Island to relive stress and feel good- check my facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/confidentqueen/
