THE WORLD LAUGHING CHAMPIONSHIP

Laughing Championships are contests of contagious laughter where competitors go head to head and the most contagious laugher wins. The goal of the championships is simple.  To create more contagious laughter in the world and to elevate the pursuit of joy and happiness.

Laughter connects people, improves health and promotes happiness. Laughter competitions are hilarious affairs where laughing together is the main goal despite the competition. However, the sporting nature of the craft elevates the laughter. Because the most contagious laughter wins, competitors must channel joy, levity and a spirit of release to win.

Laughter is a human universal, so it makes sense to bring together the world to laugh together.

Although competitors must laugh on the spot there are many techniques to arrive at authentic laughter, including Laughter Yoga, Laughercize and others.

Fun ways to celebrate National I Want You to Be Happy Day!

As Confident Queen, my mission since 2009 has been to help as many people as I can to have a reason to smile each day through the various activities I run. This is because there was a period in my life when it was all dark and I felt like a bird trapped in a cage with no way out due to some personal challenges I was going through. I am happy that after some time, I had the courage to ask for help from family, friends and various organisations which helped me regain my zest for life. Even just before Christmas I lost my mum and two two other very close family members. Though it has been devastating and for the last 3 months, things have been tough, I am slowly getting my smile back and I continue to go around various organisations spreading laughter and good vibes.

National I Want You to Be Happy Day is here to celebrate the idea that the world is a better place when we all work together to make other people happy. Although its not possible to change someone’s entire life in just a moment, but it’s certainly easy enough to make their day a little brighter by simple gestures  It can make all the difference between having a completely hard day and turning up as a ray of sunshine on their cloudy day.

Scientists have even shown  that when people help others. Oxytocin, dopamine and serotonin are all released in what’s called the “helper’s high”, which is the good feeling  someone gets from helping another person and watching them be happy.

Why I want you to be happy

I want you to be happy  and confident  because I  care about you and want the best for you.   I know  from my own experience that our happiness and confidence can have a positive impact on others around you, creating a more positive and uplifting environment for everyone.

Feeling happy and confident can have many positive benefits. It can improve your mental health and well-being, increase your productivity and creativity, and help you build stronger relationships with others. When you’re happy and confident, you’re more likely to have a positive outlook on life and be able to handle challenges and setbacks in a better way.

Kukuwa®African Dance and Laughter Yoga for #Wellbeing

I decided to combine African Dance and Laughter Yoga as these are two things I do to make me feel good. Over the last year, I have ran many sessions and the feedback has always been positive, leaving those attending feeling very happy and ready to make the most of their day. I am both a qualified laughter yoga leader and an African dance workout instructor. I bring to the sessions my bubbly personality and my mission to spread happiness and good vibes. I am also the UK Laughter Champion 2022.

Kukuwa®African Dance for Wellbeing

Kukuwa® African Dance for wellbeing

There has been lots of research dating back to the 1980s which has shown that dancing regularly can help to reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. It is an instant mood-booster as we dance to the beat of music from various parts of Africa and get our happy juices flowing. You don’t even need to know the moves just feel the beat and dance with other like minded people.

Our Kukuwa® African Dance Workout sessions are suitable to all ages and levels of fitness. The same classes are suitable for beginners, intermediate, and advanced levels of fitness. All the dance routines are such that one can choose to either walk through the whole dance class or keep up with the normal pace of the class. All dance movements are low impact, and both seniors and children can participate. Pregnant women can also take Kukuwa® Dance Workout from the start of their pregnancy to full term, depending, of course, on the approval from their doctors.

LAUGHTER YOGA FOR WELLBEING

Laughter Yoga is a complete well-being workout, developed by a medical doctor from India Dr. Madan Kataria and it has spread across many countries. It is a combination of deep breathing exercises from yoga and laughter exercises, which oxygenates our body and brain, makes us feel more healthy and energetic. I don’t tell jokes, we just laugh, because it feels good. During the session you will enjoy various laughter exercise like Milkshake laughter, Snort Laughter, Various Animal Laughter and also have time to create your own laughie. Being a Laughter Champion

One of the funniest things I have done this year happened on Sunday 24th April when I took part in the UK Laughter Championships. Their was a time in my life where for 5 years, I lost my joy and sense of happiness because of personal challenges I was going through. At times I felt like a bird trapped in a cage of low self esteem, sadness and depression. I am happy with the help and support of so many people and organisations I was able to set back and now use my experiences to help others.

I entered the competition as it is part of my mission of spreading good vibes and positivity around especially during these times with so much uncertainty, anxiety, stress and negativity around.

The first stage of the competition was to send my laugh for consideration. I was then excited to make it to the finals.

Below in the image of what we had to do.

The most challenging one for me was doing the silent laughter, as you were not allowed to make any sound. The minute I had to do this was so long, and at the end I just had to let the laugh out.

Here is the link to the event on facebook

The other competitors were amazing and had very good laughs. I was surprised and excited and felt honoured that the judges selected me as the winning laugher. Now I look forward to representing UK in the world championships on 15 May 2022 via zoom.

Evaluate your life

Taking time to review your life is one of the most empowering activity you can do. Answer this question –Are the things I am doing each day moving me closer to achieving my goals and aspirations? If they are not, I encourage you to get piece of paper and pen, and take about an hour to just focus and answer these questions honestly as they will help you to evaluate your life and help you stay committed and motivated to take daily actions which will in turn help you to achieve your goals and aspirations.

Issue – What issues am I currently face with?

Goal – What would I like to happen about each issue??

Reality – What’s happening now in my life in relation to the issues I face?

Obstacles – What obstacles do I currently face that are stopping me from achieving my goals?

Options – What options do I have to overcome the obstacles I face?

Solution – Which of the options can I take on board?

Action – What things am I going to do to reach my desired solution>

Celebrate – How am I going to celebrate once I have resolved this issue?

Commitment – How committed am I to take the actions I have set,
Accountability – Who can I share my goals that will help to motivate and encourage me?

Mantra – What is the sentence I am going to say each day till I achieve my desired result?.

” Remember! Don’t expect different results if you keep doing what you have always done.”

You’ve come this far. It’s okay to pause, reflect and take a break, but never stop believing in your dreams. Celebrate yourself because you’ve come this far, so you can achieve your goals. Be encouraged to do what you love, despite the occasional set backs and your consistency and determination will ensure all is well in the end.

At the end of each month, make it a lifestyle choice to take time out to evaluate and celebrate your life.

If you do need help to evaluate your life and prepare a plan for you to do this, do contact me for a free initial consultation.

Confident Queen activities for #WorldBookDay

On world book day, I personally feel children should dress up  as character that reflect our diverse community, and we can do that by also making sure the books children read reflect this. Raising my children I remember one of my son’s coming home one day from primary school upset because he had dressed up as a character from one of the books, and a few of the children had laughed at him and said to him that he could not be the character because he was black. I must admit I was quite upset and decided to do something about it through writing my books and researching other authors.

‘Confident Queen’ is a fun loving modern day superhero who helps children to unwrap he Gift of  Confidence which is within them by using the contents of her special ‘Gift of Confidence’ toolkit which contains a creative array of items which can help to boost and maintain a child’s confidence from childhood through adulthood. Research in numerous fields including Education, Health, Psychology and Sociology, highlight the importance of confidence building in our children and young people and Confident Queen is on a mission to do just that.”

Confident Queen appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in April 2012 and was able to wow the audience with her fun outfit and got everyone singing “If you are happy and you know it clap your hands”. Since then she has delivered a lot of happiness and confidence sessions for schools and community centres!

How to plan to handle whatever the week unfolds.

Despite the current uncertainties of life, I still feel it’s important that we have a routine and plan what we are going to do each day of the week. I do find that it does help to have some something to look forward to each day.

For some of us, we have seen the demand for our services reduced and others, have been faced with redundancy, unemployment, and this has had an impact on our finances and created unforeseen challenges, set backs and interruption to our daily lives.

Their are so many things that we can’t control right now, so the best I try to do especially every sunday is to plan what I am going to do each day with the belief that whatever the week unfolds I can handle it, and even if I face set back, like I did last thursday, I remind myself that its ok not to be as it is part of life. I was so upset on the thursday, that I did not work on friday and just took the time to practise some much needed self care. You also have to remember that even though we have plans for the week, we need to be flexible to adjust when things do not go according to plans.

I now share with you some of the things I now do every sunday evening to prepare me for the coming week. I hope you find them useful. Please feel free to comment and share your tips too.

GRATITUDE

I  start and end  each day by writing down at least 3 things I am grateful  for

I Know what my priorities are for the week

I have planned what I am doing every day of the week

I have visualised having a good day every week based on my plans

If things get a bit overwhelming, I remind myself that it’s ok not to be ok.

I slot in time to stop and do the One Minute Smilence throughout my day.
