Confident Queen activities for #WorldBookDay

On world book day, I personally feel children should dress up  as character that reflect our diverse community, and we can do that by also making sure the books children read reflect this. Raising my children I remember one of my son’s coming home one day from primary school upset because he had dressed up as a character from one of the books, and a few of the children had laughed at him and said to him that he could not be the character because he was black. I must admit I was quite upset and decided to do something about it through writing my books and researching other authors.

‘Confident Queen’ is a fun loving modern day superhero who helps children to unwrap he Gift of  Confidence which is within them by using the contents of her special ‘Gift of Confidence’ toolkit which contains a creative array of items which can help to boost and maintain a child’s confidence from childhood through adulthood. Research in numerous fields including Education, Health, Psychology and Sociology, highlight the importance of confidence building in our children and young people and Confident Queen is on a mission to do just that.”

Confident Queen appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in April 2012 and was able to wow the audience with her fun outfit and got everyone singing “If you are happy and you know it clap your hands”. Since then she has delivered a lot of happiness and confidence sessions for schools and community centres!

How to plan to handle whatever the week unfolds.

Despite the current uncertainties of life, I still feel it’s important that we have a routine and plan what we are going to do each day of the week. I do find that it does help to have some something to look forward to each day.

For some of us, we have seen the demand for our services reduced and others, have been faced with redundancy, unemployment, and this has had an impact on our finances and created unforeseen challenges, set backs and interruption to our daily lives.

Their are so many things that we can’t control right now, so the best I try to do especially every sunday is to plan what I am going to do each day with the belief that whatever the week unfolds I can handle it, and even if I face set back, like I did last thursday, I remind myself that its ok not to be as it is part of life. I was so upset on the thursday, that I did not work on friday and just took the time to practise some much needed self care. You also have to remember that even though we have plans for the week, we need to be flexible to adjust when things do not go according to plans.

I now share with you some of the things I now do every sunday evening to prepare me for the coming week. I hope you find them useful. Please feel free to comment and share your tips too.

GRATITUDE

I  start and end  each day by writing down at least 3 things I am grateful  for

I Know what my priorities are for the week

I have planned what I am doing every day of the week

I have visualised having a good day every week based on my plans

If things get a bit overwhelming, I remind myself that it’s ok not to be ok.

I slot in time to stop and do the One Minute Smilence throughout my day.

6 fun things to help you feel good

If you are having a tough day or you just feel a bit down,  its time for you to just sit back, take deep breaths and put on your Crown of Smiles. It can be an imaginary crown of a physical crown that you can make or purchase.

1. Put on your Crown of Smiles

As you put on your Crown of Smiles on your head, imagine you have a jar of happy oil which is being poured over your head.

2.Imagine that the oil is going through your body.

As the oil goes through every part of your body, from the top of your head to the sole of your feet, imagine your body tingling as you experience inner joy which lightens up your face with a beautiful smile.  Now start to move your body doing your happy dance as you say say

3. One Minute Smilence

4. SmileXercise

This is where you put on your most happiest and feel good song and as you dance around you keep smiling

5. Read the lyrics of this lovely song and let it lift your mood

Day 8 (21) How to stay focussed on achieving your goal #21DayGoalChallenge

Your focus can be likened to a direct command given to your mind. This tells it what to think about next, and it’s important we give the commands that lead to a better life.

If you choose to focus on reasons why you can achieve your goals and dreams, you will find them.  Likewise, if you choose to focus on reasons why you can’t achieve your goals, you will find those too.

Thoughts are things, So remember to always , keep your goal on your mind. Start visualizing your goal constantly. The more you think about it, the more avenues will present themselves for you to achieve your goal.

Be careful of what you say about your goals and make sure what you say, how you think, and what you do aligns  with your goal.

Examples of what to focus on

If you are fit and healthy and want to run the marathon then you can focus on yourself running and completing the marathon;.

If you have a successful business and want to increase sales, you can place your mental focus on the feeling of increasing your sales; .

If you are an avid traveller and want to experience a great travelling adventure, you can mentally focus on your next exciting destination and being . careful not to say negative things about it-

Do let me know how you are getting on, and if you need some clarification on support. I really want to help you achive your goal so do get in touch.

Give yourself permission to take 5 minutes every morning and before you go to bed each night to focus on your vision board and imagine in detail you having achived your goal.

Shrink and Inch lifestyle club #fittergenny

As part of my plan for getting fitter and healthier, I decided to attend the Shrink and Inch lifestyle club run at our Outline Health & Fitness to meet other people and learn more about nutrition and health. http://www.gcll.co.uk/gym/

I was quite inspired having read this about the club “Shrink an Inch is a healthy lifestyle club which involves a weekly weigh-in and waist measurement and a non-compulsory 20 minutes exercise session. Each week a different topic of nutrition will be covered with information leaflets to take home and there is a question and answer session. If you want to lose weight, then exercise alone is not enough – Shrink an Inch will help you shape up and slim-down.”

My first impression
I arrived at the session a few minutes later, and was greated by a group of ladies of all ages and one man, sitting on chairs in a semi-circle and a large mirror in front. I looked around the room quickly and was happy to note the different sizes of each person which gave me some reassurance.

I met a friend who introduced me to the others and I felt very welcome. I had to complete a medical questionnaire and then got weighed! I believe I was heavier as I had not long eaten some Pizza and chips.

The session was great as the nutritionist gave us some very useful tips on general health , and did a presentation about the usefulness of protein in our diet. I enjoyed the fact that she engaged with us and asked us questions as well as allowing us to raise any concerns or questions we had.

Exercise time
We also had a few minutes of light exercise. This was a bit tricky for me initially as we had to follow an exercise routine, which made me feel as if I had two left feet! On the whole we had a good laugh.
