Fun ways to celebrate National I Want You to Be Happy Day!

As Confident Queen, my mission since 2009 has been to help as many people as I can to have a reason to smile each day through the various activities I run. This is because there was a period in my life when it was all dark and I felt like a bird trapped in a cage with no way out due to some personal challenges I was going through. I am happy that after some time, I had the courage to ask for help from family, friends and various organisations which helped me regain my zest for life. Even just before Christmas I lost my mum and two two other very close family members. Though it has been devastating and for the last 3 months, things have been tough, I am slowly getting my smile back and I continue to go around various organisations spreading laughter and good vibes.

National I Want You to Be Happy Day is here to celebrate the idea that the world is a better place when we all work together to make other people happy. Although its not possible to change someone’s entire life in just a moment, but it’s certainly easy enough to make their day a little brighter by simple gestures  It can make all the difference between having a completely hard day and turning up as a ray of sunshine on their cloudy day.

Scientists have even shown  that when people help others. Oxytocin, dopamine and serotonin are all released in what’s called the “helper’s high”, which is the good feeling  someone gets from helping another person and watching them be happy.

Why I want you to be happy

I want you to be happy  and confident  because I  care about you and want the best for you.   I know  from my own experience that our happiness and confidence can have a positive impact on others around you, creating a more positive and uplifting environment for everyone.

Feeling happy and confident can have many positive benefits. It can improve your mental health and well-being, increase your productivity and creativity, and help you build stronger relationships with others. When you’re happy and confident, you’re more likely to have a positive outlook on life and be able to handle challenges and setbacks in a better way.

Tips on setting your intentions for the day

Setting your intentions for the day can be a powerful way to start your day with focus and purpose. Here are some steps to help you set your intentions for the day:

  1. Begin with a clear mind

Take a few deep breaths and clear your mind of any distractions or worries. Find a quiet space where you can focus without any interruptions.

  • Reflect on your goals

Take a few minutes to reflect on your overall goals in life. Think about what you want to achieve in the long term, and how your daily actions can help you move closer to those goals.

  • Set your priorities

Identify the most important tasks you need to accomplish today. This could be work-related tasks, personal goals, or anything else that you want to achieve.

  • Write it down:

Write down your intentions for the day in a journal or on a piece of paper. Be specific about what you want to accomplish and how you plan to do it.

  • Visualize success
  • Visualize yourself successfully completing your tasks and achieving your goals. This will help you stay motivated and focused throughout the day.

Take action

  • Once you have set your intentions, take action to make them a reality. Start with the most important tasks first and work your way down the list

Remember to be flexible and adaptable throughout the day, as unexpected events may arise that require you to adjust your plans. By setting your intentions for the day, you will be better prepared to handle whatever challenges come your way and make progress towards your goals.

Take it one day at a time

It’s good to have long term goals and plans, but for everyday living, you just have to focus on the now and making the most of things. If you are worried about the mountain in the distance, you might trip over the molehill right in front of you.. Small daily happenings make life spectacular…. start enjoying the small things in life.

What are your priorities at this stage of your life?

As for me below are my main priorities and I try to make sure that I schedule my day with this in mind

  1. Taking good care of myself  sprit, body, mind and soul
  2. Spending  quality time with my family and friends
  3. Putting my house in order
  4. Focussing my business on the things that I enjoy doing
  5. Inspiring the next generation
  6. Making a difference in my local community
  7. Trying new hobbies and experiences
  8. Spending time on my own
  9. Travel and explore different places

I find that by making sure that I include the things that are important to me, I feel more fulfilled and happier. I have also been able to schedule my day so I work smarter and not harder. I also have clear boundaries about my time for work and time for my other priorities of life.

Kukuwa®African Dance for Wellbeing

Kukuwa® African Dance for wellbeing

There has been lots of research dating back to the 1980s which has shown that dancing regularly can help to reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. It is an instant mood-booster as we dance to the beat of music from various parts of Africa and get our happy juices flowing. You don’t even need to know the moves just feel the beat and dance with other like minded people.

Our Kukuwa® African Dance Workout sessions are suitable to all ages and levels of fitness. The same classes are suitable for beginners, intermediate, and advanced levels of fitness. All the dance routines are such that one can choose to either walk through the whole dance class or keep up with the normal pace of the class. All dance movements are low impact, and both seniors and children can participate. Pregnant women can also take Kukuwa® Dance Workout from the start of their pregnancy to full term, depending, of course, on the approval from their doctors.

Tips for Stress Awareness Month #StressMangementTips #StressAwarnessMonth

Stress is linked to physical, mental, and emotional health. During Stress Awareness Month we are encouraged to learn about what triggers our stress and how we can best manage it using various tips and tools. I will be writing weekly blogs every Monday in April sharing things I have done to help me cope and manage stress based on my experience and from other individuals and organisations.

.

I have also written a self help book Crown of Smiles, which is a very practical. I share my journey from the time when I became divorced and a single parent of two boys, At about the same time my house was going to be repossessed, I had a lot of debt and was made redundant from my job.

The struggle was real and though at times I felt like giving up my faith kept me going and when I saw the smiles on my children’s faces it gave me hope and motivated me to seek help to cope with the sadness, depression and stressful moments. The book’s title is all about putting down my crown of sadness and replace it for the Crown of Smiles with hope, faith and gratitude that life will work out maybe not as how I had hoped, but hw it was meant to be.

According to the Mental Health Foundation in the United Kingdom, it seems that 74% of UK adults have had a moment where they’ve felt so stressed that they’ve been too overwhelmed or unable to cope with the situation. Not only that, but it has been estimated that between 75% and 90% of all visits to doctors are related to complaints or concerns whose root cause is stress.

So if we can make time to understand what cause us stress we can find ways to mange it, as we really cannot avoid stress. It is part of life.

Tips to manage stress #StressManagementTips

Stress is part of life and even though we may not be able to eliminate  it all, we can find ways to help us cope and seek help when we find we cannot cope or don’t even know what to do.

Take the time to look at your life and find out who or what situation triggers stress in your life.

Answer this question – What can you do about it? Look at the options you have

If you are not sure what to do about it, is there someone or an organisation who you could talk to about it?

If you can’t do anything about it because it is beyond your control, just breathe, release it and let it go.

My day out at the #TottenhamExperience in photos

In the 80s and early 90s I used to live in Tottenham and enjoyed going to the matches in White Hart Lane.as a supporter.  As I moved out of the area and started a family I did not have time to go to the matches and mostly watched on TV.  I was very excited when the new stadium was built and it was a dream come true when a friend booked for us to go on the Tottenham Experience Tour

I felt very welcomed as I went through the security – the team where very nice and welcoming. We got to walk around the shop and its was as if I was a child left in a sweet shop to choose whatever I wanted.

The tour started with a short history and promotional clip which I really enjoyed.

One of my favourite moment of the tour was running excitedly from the tunnel

I learnt so much about our club and it is definitely a tour I will recommend you to book https://bit.ly/2CBzR4t

How to stop the same bad situation happening in your life #21DayGoalChallenge

The other day, I was thinking about certain things that keep repeating  in my life, and why they kept happening. I researched and  read a few articles about this online, I realised it was really down to what I was saying and my belief

This kept repeating in my life.

I am self employed and one of the problems I have had for years is that I will do work for clients, but when it came to them paying me, I had to keep chasing them and threatening to take legal action.

After reading various articles on the subject – of why the same things keep happening to  you! I discovered that the clients who paid me on time, where the once I was happy to do their work with no problem and I kept saying how good it was to work with them because they always paid me on time.

The clients who had a history of paying me late mainly did this because I had no proper payment terms with them, and some I no longer enjoyed the work I was doing and resented the fact they paid me late. I was also having serious financial setbacks which was causing me stress to the point that I was just taking work on just to be able to make ends meet.

I had to make some changes as I was getting I very frustrated with the while situation. I started to belief that my clients will pay me on time because they appreciated the great work I was doing for them and where happy with my work. I started to say “ I have good clients who  have the money in their account to pay me well before their due date of payment

I also made some practical changes:-

  • I gave notice to the clients who where constantly paying me late.
  • I put in place my payment terms which I sent to every client
  • I made sure every new client paid a deposit
  • I added interest will be charged for late payment of my invoice

The key to break the “same problem” cycle is to recognize and acknowledge your mistakes, learn the lesson, and move forward.  Whether you are younger or older, you can always learn something new. Problems are only life’s way of teaching you a lesson.
