Confident Queen activities for #WorldBookDay

On world book day, I personally feel children should dress up  as character that reflect our diverse community, and we can do that by also making sure the books children read reflect this. Raising my children I remember one of my son’s coming home one day from primary school upset because he had dressed up as a character from one of the books, and a few of the children had laughed at him and said to him that he could not be the character because he was black. I must admit I was quite upset and decided to do something about it through writing my books and researching other authors.

‘Confident Queen’ is a fun loving modern day superhero who helps children to unwrap he Gift of  Confidence which is within them by using the contents of her special ‘Gift of Confidence’ toolkit which contains a creative array of items which can help to boost and maintain a child’s confidence from childhood through adulthood. Research in numerous fields including Education, Health, Psychology and Sociology, highlight the importance of confidence building in our children and young people and Confident Queen is on a mission to do just that.”

Confident Queen appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in April 2012 and was able to wow the audience with her fun outfit and got everyone singing “If you are happy and you know it clap your hands”. Since then she has delivered a lot of happiness and confidence sessions for schools and community centres!

As a parent or carer, we can encourage and support our child to be more confident and resilient so that they can be able to cope with everyday life. One of the tools I have developed to help is the Gift of Confidence Box

The idea of this Gift of Confidence  Box, is that children can put in various items which will help boost their self esteem and confidence. It is a box that they can build on and use it throughout their journey into adulthood. I also offer coaching ans support to help children with their self esteem and confidence.

Confidence building sessions for schools #Confidence

As someone who was bullied in school and suffered from low self esteem and confidence part of my adult life, I created my personna Confident Queen as someone who is full of Confidence  so that she can go out and help especially children and young people to feel good about themselves and develop the confidence to be the best version of themselves. I was able to demonstrate my confidence by auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent singing my confidence song which proved very popular to the judges and audience and helped me promote my confidence message to the nation.

Confident Queen said of her visit to Molehill Primary Academy:

“Thanks for inviting me to do a story session with your school.  I found the whole experience very rewarding as both the children and teachers were open to engage with me and participated in listening to the stories, dressing up, singing and dancing.   I loved the fact that the children could ask me questions and had prior knowledge about Africa through the work they had been doing. I really loved my time with the school and look forward to doing some more sessions in the future.

Positive role model- “I was on benefits and wanted to die

The value of a good role model from an early age is so important. Invariably, children will look towards others as examples of how they should try to live.   Our first role models are are parents or care givers and as we grow up we tend to be influenced by our peers.

As s single parent raising boys, I have always made sure that they have good male role models  such as my brothers, teachers, and being into football, their football managers have always been their to help me when i had challenges to deal with.

Now as teenagers, they continue to have role models and today I read about this guy who turned his life around – Reginald Larry-Cole had a successful business, a loving family and expensive cars on the driveway to his dream home. But just a few months later in December 2008, he lost it all when his car finance business Creditlab went bust during the height of the financial crisis.

“I was on benefits and wanted to die “- now I run a £4.3m car finance firm https://www.buy2letcars.com/team/reginald-larry-cole/

New book inspires children, raises money for war #amputees

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New book inspires children, raises money for Melqosh Mission International

Author Genny Jones is back with the second instalment in her “I Can” series of children’s books, with “I Can Still Play Football,” the story of a young boy named Abu, whose leg is amputated after he’s involved in a car accident. The boy, who loves football, must regain his confidence and re-learn the game so he play with his friends again.

The book shows how Abu’s friend James helps him, using items in the “I Can” box given to his brother by Confident Queen, a character who helps children to develop their inner and outer confidence and have the “I Can and Will Try” mindset.

Jones, an accountant, mother of two, and contestant on “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2012, has adopted the persona of Confident Queen in real life as a way of helping children to develop their self esteem through her confidence programme.

“I wrote the book having being inspired by a lady called Faith who runs a project helping those whose limbs were amputated during the civil war in Sierra Leone,” Jones said. “This made me think about my own two children, who love to play football, and how they would feel if they had an accident.”

Jones said she wants to use the book to bring hope to others about disabled kids and their ability to do things, despite their disability.

All profits from sales of “I Can Still Play Football” will go directly to support the work of Melqosh Mission International, which, she said she hopes “will one day have their own football team, and help both children and adults to enjoy the great game of football, or any other sport they wish.”

About Genny Jones AKA Confident Queen
Genny Jones, known as Confident Queen, created the Confident Queen and set up her community project, the Confident Children Club, in 2008. With her team of volunteers, she has, over the years, worked hard to help children aged 5-11 years to believe in themselves and to become more confident by undertaking various activities which lead them to obtaining their bronze, silver and gold medal and then become confidence champions in their school and community.

On Stage BGT

Jones, dressed up in her Confident Queen outfit, wowed the audience and judges when she appeared on “Britain’s Got Talent” in April 2012, demonstrating her confidence and bubbly personality. She has since appeared on various TV and radio shows talking about confidence and happiness.

I can still play football #booklaunch

This my 2nd children’s book is about a boy Abu who was a very keen football player since he was 3 years old, but at the age of 8 he was involved in a car accident which crushed his leg. As a result the leg had to be amputated which left him feeling very sad as he felt he could never play football again with his friends.

His hope to play football again was restored by his friend who helped him to regain his confidence with the help of the ” I Can box” given to his brother by Confident Queen – who is the Queen of teaching children how to be more confident.

PROCCEEDS OF THE BOOK

Some of the proceeds of the book will go towards supporting the Confident Children Holiday Acivity Club in Gravesend and the work of Melqosh Mission in Sierra Leone working with disabled children and families whose legs and arms where amputated during the war in Sierra Leone..

BOOK  PUBLISHERS – Mindset Makeover Mission Kent

I can still play football –

My latest children’s book is  about a young boy Abu  who believed that he would never be able to play football again with his friends after a car accident that crushed his leg. and part of the leg had to be removed. His biggest journey was learning to get along without his leg- he used crutches to help him walk again and that was alright. But he really wanted to play football with his friends.

Thanks to all those who have purchased my book, proceeds of which are going towards helping the charity Melqosh Mission International, giving hope to those children and adults whose limbs and arms where amputated during the civil war in Sierra Leone West Africa.
