Confident Queen activities for #WorldBookDay

On world book day, I personally feel children should dress up  as character that reflect our diverse community, and we can do that by also making sure the books children read reflect this. Raising my children I remember one of my son’s coming home one day from primary school upset because he had dressed up as a character from one of the books, and a few of the children had laughed at him and said to him that he could not be the character because he was black. I must admit I was quite upset and decided to do something about it through writing my books and researching other authors.

‘Confident Queen’ is a fun loving modern day superhero who helps children to unwrap he Gift of  Confidence which is within them by using the contents of her special ‘Gift of Confidence’ toolkit which contains a creative array of items which can help to boost and maintain a child’s confidence from childhood through adulthood. Research in numerous fields including Education, Health, Psychology and Sociology, highlight the importance of confidence building in our children and young people and Confident Queen is on a mission to do just that.”

Confident Queen appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in April 2012 and was able to wow the audience with her fun outfit and got everyone singing “If you are happy and you know it clap your hands”. Since then she has delivered a lot of happiness and confidence sessions for schools and community centres!

Let’s put some colour and fun into #BlueMonday

This  middle Monday  of January according to researchers is Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year which is  based on some scientific calculations which takes into account things like the weather, the fact that we are recovering from christmas,  worrying about at our debts from overspending at christmas  and now with COVID19, Lockdown and tiers.

As a happiness spreader, I really don’t like this idea of linking depression or sadness to a particular day. I want to encourage you instead to try and make it a habit of having a reason to smile each day. Start with being grateful and thankful you are alive to see another day.

So, I invite you to join me on my Confident Queen Facebook page for my live 15 minutes of positivity and good vibes which includes, singing, dancing and laughter.

Please also print out and learn the words of the booboom song

Share your smile – Join in my #ISmileBack campaign

Go out and share a smile #ISmileBack

In this world where there are a lot of people suffering, feeling lonely, living on the edge, frustrated and having no purpose, the least we can do is to share a smile – smiling is contagious and when you share it with someone it can change their mood. I love wearing my Tshirt walking down the road, and watch as people read it and most smile back

Smile even when someone does not smile back just because you don’t know what they are going through. This should not stop you from moving on and smiling to to the next person you see.

What you can do-

Design your own Tshirt or badge and walk around and smile at people and watch their reaction too as they read your Tshirt

Upload your photos showing us your smile on social media using #ISmileBack

Smile even when someone does not smile back!

The other day,  I went to a very uplifting event in London, and everyone looked happy and smiling, except one lady who just looked miserable. I made eye contact with her a few times, and she just seemed to stare at me as if to say “ oh for goodness sake stop smiling”. This really did bother me. But then I realise that she may be going through stuff and was not in the mood to smile.

Think about it – Do you always smile back at people? If you don’t, then think about it. Chances are you’re thinking about something else, or are distracted or don’t even see them. Same with other people. Remember that most people are friendly by nature, but right at that moment when you smile at someone, you never know what’s really going on in their heads, so don’t think or worry about it.

Continue to smile, continue to say hello, and when someone does not respond in kind, go on and share the smile with someone else.

4 ways to feel good- Put on your Crown of smiles

That’s enough  of you  feeling down and sad my friend,  It’s time for you to put down your Crown of Sadness and put on your Crown of smiles . Smiling Is Good for Your Health. Smiling  releases endorphins, which improves your mood, helps you to relax, and lowers your blood pressure.

“Each time you smile, you throw a little feel-good party in your brain. The act of smiling activates neural messaging that benefits your health and happiness. Read full article https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/cutting-edge-leadership/201206/there-s-magic-in-your-smile

1. Put on your Crown of Smiles

One way of lifting your mood is to imagine you are putting on  your Crown of Smiles.  Slowly breathe in and out for a few seconds. Now imagine you have a large invisible crown of smiles that you are going to put on your head. As you put on your Crown of Smiles on your head, imagine you have a jar of happy oil which is being poured over your head.

Imagine that the oil is going through your body.

As the oil goes through every part of your body, from the top of your head to the sole of your feet, imagine your body tingling as you experience inner joy which lightens up your face with a beautiful smile.  Now start to move your body doing your happy dance as you say say “WooHoo BoomBoom I feel good”.

2. Try my  One minute Smilence

Firstly, slowly breathe in positivity and breathe out negativity -do this 3 times.

Now smile to the right, then smile to the left, smile in front of you and then laugh our loud – do this 3 times

Now recall some happy moments in your life whilst smiling for a minute

3. SmileXercise

This is where you put on your most happiest and feel good song and as you dance around whilst you are smiling.

4. Read the lyrics of this lovely song

My next book – Crown of Confidence

Their was a time in my life when I lost my self esteem and confidence to the extent that I could not even look at myself in the mirror as I let the negative words of people sink me to an all time low.

I am happy that with time and support from others ove a 5 year period, I embarked on a journey of developing my inner and outer confidence which I have now captured in this my  2nd book Crown of  Confidence.

My book Crown of  Confidence contains simple practical things which helped me to become the more confident and happier person I am today and I do hope it will inspire and encourage you to be the best version of yourself.

My book will be available in June in time for my birthday.

My second children’s book – I can still play football

The aim of my book is to help children like Abu the character in my book to get greater self-esteem and confidence and identify with characters that “look like me” and open them to a  world of possibilities.

Listen to me reading the book – https://soundcloud.com/genny-jones-1/childrens-story-i-can-play-football-again

This is my second book in my “I Can” series of books and is aimed at children aged 5-8 years old.  I am inspired to write the book to help raise funds for a charity Melqosh Mission and it’s founder Faith Okrafo-Smartwho over the last ten years has dedicated her time, energy and effort to give hope to those who have been affected by the war in Sierra Leone, espcially those whose legs, arms and lims where amputated.

The book is about a young boy Abu  who thought he would never be able to play football again with his friends. This was his favourite sport until a car accident crushed his leg. Unfortunately, part of the leg had to be removed. His biggest journey was learning to get along without his leg- he used crutches to help him walk again and that was alright. But he really wanted to play football with his friends again.

The book  costs £4.99 and some of the proceeds will be going to help the charity Melqosh Mission and my Confident Children holiday and half term project.

Just email me  genny@confidentqueen.co.uk books

Confident Queen – Confidence Builder

I created my personna Confident Queen as a modern day superhero, who helps children and adults to build their self esteem and confidence.

I was then inspired to include Confident Queen in my  first Children’s Book  “I can blow up a balloon with the aim of using the story to teaching children aged 5-7 how to be confident and not give up when trying to do things.

Smile even when someone does not smile back! #WorldSmileDAY

World Smile Day  is the First Friday of October each year and was created by Harvey Ball a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts who created the smiley face in 1963.
