Go out and share a smile #ISmileBack

In this world where there are a lot of people suffering, feeling lonely, living on the edge, frustrated and having no purpose, the least we can do is to share a smile – smiling is contagious and when you share it with someone it can change their mood. I love wearing my Tshirt walking down the road, and watch as people read it and most smile back

Smile even when someone does not smile back just because you don’t know what they are going through. This should not stop you from moving on and smiling to to the next person you see.

What you can do-

Design your own Tshirt or badge and walk around and smile at people and watch their reaction too as they read your Tshirt

Upload your photos showing us your smile on social media using #ISmileBack

Smile even when someone does not smile back!

The other day,  I went to a very uplifting event in London, and everyone looked happy and smiling, except one lady who just looked miserable. I made eye contact with her a few times, and she just seemed to stare at me as if to say “ oh for goodness sake stop smiling”. This really did bother me. But then I realise that she may be going through stuff and was not in the mood to smile.

Think about it – Do you always smile back at people? If you don’t, then think about it. Chances are you’re thinking about something else, or are distracted or don’t even see them. Same with other people. Remember that most people are friendly by nature, but right at that moment when you smile at someone, you never know what’s really going on in their heads, so don’t think or worry about it.

Continue to smile, continue to say hello, and when someone does not respond in kind, go on and share the smile with someone else.

Put on your Crown of Smiles (Day 29) Run, leap and celebrate for you are alive!

 runleapandcelebrtaeyouaralive

Welcome to  Day  29 Run, leap and celebrate for you are alive.

WooHoo, I am celebrating the fact that we made it to the last day of February. Thanks so much for taking time to read my blog which I hope you have found useful!

Celebrate your life!

When we sit back and look back at our lives, we should really celebrate how far we’ve come!  13 years ago when I became a single parent, I  had such challenges trying to sort my life out, work, and look after my boys.  There have been times when I felt like giving up, times when it was so cold in the house as I could not afford to put the heaters on, times when my situation was so bad, that I suffered in silence as I was too embarrassed to ask for help and did not want to be a burden to anyone!

Yet today, I have reasons to smile at how far I have come, and celebrate all the wonderful people who have been their for us.  I celebrate at being able to share my experiences with so many people and help give them reasons to smile too!

celebrateyourgoals

So go ahead and celebrate your life!

Their are so many negative people who are out their to put us down, but we have to celebrate our achievements, successes as well as make time to enjoy this precious gift of life!

Their was a time I could not look in the mirror and smile!

I remember in 2003 after I  got my divorce, one of the things I did was to take all the mirrors down, and throw them away and kept just one small one, as I could not stand the sight of myself.   I felt like a loser. I started to hear the words  of my ex ” You are no good”! ” No one will want you”  ” I have had women better than you”. It was really painful at times, as these words started to drag me down,  I started to have nightmares and even though I was waking up and doing things, I was running my life on auto pilot as I had my two toddlers and need to look after them.

As I started getting help and support, I slowly began to reprogram my mind.  I remember my pastor in my church  saying to me – remember your ex is just one person who thinks that way, God loves you and he created you to be a somebody, unique and special.

One day I remember driving around and saw a very large mirror displayed for sale. I actually got out of my car and went to buy the mirror. I remember the excitement as I drove home that day. As soon as I got home, I put the mirror right outside my bedroom door, so that every morning when I woke up I would look at it, smile and say ” I am unique, special and happy to be me”!!

Put on your Crown of Smiles (Day 26) Escape to Happiness Island using your imagination!

Welcome to  Day  26 of Crown of Smiles –  Use your imagination and Escape to Happiness Island

Remember that each day you have to get into the habit of taking at least 15 minutes to :-

Escape to Happiness Island  to relieve stress and have time to experience Smilence moment!

Some situations in our life can leave us overwhelmed, stressed, frustrated and leave us with as sense of helplessness.

A few year’s ago, I went through a period of depression and loss of self esteem and confidence when I got divorced and within that same year I was made redundant, the house was due to be repossessed, I had two toddlers to look after and I was in so much debt and I really felt I was in s deep dark hole with no way of getting out.   After the initial shock and stress of the situation, I slowly found myself coming to terms with things, and got help from various organisations, my church, friends and family. I also attended training to be a life coach and spent time  reading various books on things like the Law of Attraction, Use of Affirmations and Visualisation to get what you want in life.

My friend had also given me a book called “You already have it” which being a speed reader, I was able to read within a day. As I sat down quietly one morning, somehow I came with the idea of Happiness Island.

What is Happiness Island?

To me, Happiness Island is a place I can escape to using my creativity and imagination to experience things that I want to in my life.    Being in Happiness Island allows me to experience a life of limitless possibilities. So I now invite you to take an adventure with me.

Step 1  Best time for you to Escape to Happiness Island

happytime

Decide on the best time of the day that you are usually quite and relaxed. (As for me, I am a morning person)   You then need to find somewhere quiet where you can clear your mind and focus.

Step 2  I am ready to experience Happiness and Joy

happyisland

Take a deep breathe in, and then breathe out. Now say “ I am ready to experience happiness and joy”. Next spend a dew minutes just thinking about people and things right now in your life which you are grateful and thankful for, and then spend a minute as you recall happy moments and smile!! Smile because despite challenges you may be going through in life right now, you are alive, and once their is life, their is hope.

Spend some time and Imagine your own Happiness Island. What it would look like etc. Imagine that your Island has everything that you need right now. Spend some time on developing this. You could get a plain piece of paper and design this using word, drawing pictures or get pictures from magazines etc

Step 3

Now, focus your mind on God or whoever you see as your source of help. You then have to believe that all you need in all areas of your life has been provided and that you deserve good things to happen to you.

Step 4

Be specific and focus on just one particular goal that you want to achieve in your life right now, also think about why you want to achieve it, and how you will feel once you have achieved it. Then, trust, focus, believe and expect your goal to become a reality.

Step 5

happycloudtag

Imagine now that you have achieved your goal and just spend time imagining and enjoying how you would be feeling and experiencing the things achieving this goal will allow you to do. Really enjoy yourself.

Step 6

Now spend time being thankful to God or the Universe or whoever you feel has helped you to achieve this particular goal.

Step 7

Imagine you are now leaving Happiness Island feeling Inspired, Energised and Happy, and as you leave you take one of my Gift of Happiness Box as in it, you will have:

Gift of Happiness Box

happybox3

Happiness Pledge – For you to pledge that you will devote time to develop your happiness, well being and inner peace.

Minature Trophy – to remind you that you are a champion, and that you will be celebrating your successes.

Happiness certificate – to remind you to spread the Happiness bug around

Step 8

As you get back to the real world, do the things you know you have to do to achieve your goal.

Till tomorrow – try to keep smiling, keep having a positive attitude and keep expecting good things to happen to you.  May the Smile be with you!

Go out and share a smile

Over the last few days you have been following my blog and learning about ways that will help you to have at least one reason to smile each day, so now it’s your turn to share your smiles to others.

In this world where there are a lot of people suffering, lonely, living on the edge, frustrated and having no purpose, the least we can do is to share a smile – smiling is contagious and when you share it with someone it can change their mood.

Managing our time is one of the keys to a happier life.  If we don’t manage it effectively, we can find ourselves saying “ I have so much to do, but there is not enough time”, and   if we keep saying this on a regular basis, it goes to our subconscious and this become our reality.   For me, managing my time involves clearing away space in my life to make time for people, play, and rest . Really, even if you feel that there are not enough hours in a day for everything you’d like to do, with prioritising, rearranging and re-imagining you can find time to do what really matters for today!

timeme

How to start managing our time

Managing your time, starts off by prioritising what’s important in your life right now and then making sure each day you spend time on them.

Some tips to help you manage your time so you have time to smile!

  1. Decide each day what your prioritise for the day are
  2. Make a list of things you have to complete that matches your priorities
  3. Try to do things when you are more energised
  4. Give yourself a time goal for completing each task
  5. Don’t feel you have to be busy all the time; it’s ok to have periods when you just sit down and do nothing.
  6. Concentrate on what you are doing. First complete that task that you have already started, and then move on to the next task.
  7. Keep distractions like iPads, checking email, going on social media and your mobile phones away from you when you have a task to complete.
  8. Don’t “spread yourself too thin” by overwhelming your day with an unrealistic schedule that would be difficult to accomplish.
  9. Learn to say no, not now without feeling guilty
  10. Give your self time before you say yes to the next appointment
  11. Plan time for yourself to rest and have fun in your diary
  12. Don’t feel you have to do it all, if you have a family make sure everyone has something to do, and don’t get upset if they don’t do things the way you would do it!

timemakeit

Task for today

Make a list of what you have to complete today and why

Then tomorrow, write down everything you did the day before.

Now check and see how the things you did matched your priorities

Keep doing this for a week, and by the end of the first week, you should then be able to plan a daily, weekly schedule that matches your prioritise.
