Don’t suffer in silence

How are you feeling today?

Whatever you are going through don’t bottle it all in. It’s ok to talk to the right people who will not judge you and are interested in your wellbeing. Never feel ashamed, embarrassed or guilty if things have got too much. You are not alone. Talk, ask for help, don’t keep quiet.

Talk to someone

Sometimes it’s hard to talk to family or friends. You may not want to burden those close to you or you might feel ashamed or find it difficult to ask for help. Talking about how you’re feeling to someone, can help you to put things into perspective and help you to feel more positive about the future. There are many organisations with people who can listen to you in a safe, non judgemental and confidential way.

Wherever you are in the world I hope their are organisations like the samaritans here in the uk who can help. I used them at a time in my life when i felt  depressed and did not want to talk to my family and friends. I found the samaritans very helpful and non judgemental.

We all have opportunities every day to change the world. It’s amazing what just a small effort by an individual or group of individuals can do to change the world, or at least their local neighbourhood. Make a difference Day was established to help encourage us to take one day a year to try to make a difference in the world and also to try each day to do the same!

Today I shall be out and about just sharing my smile to as many people as i can!

How to celebrate Smile Power Day #SmilePowerDay

Smile Power Day

Nobody knows who came up with the idea of dedicating a whole 24 hours to the involuntary contraction of the zygomatic major muscle, but one thing is certain: we’re the only creatures on the planet that can do it. Whether fate smiled upon you or not, you can always find a good reason to smile. So grin from ear to ear, look on the bright side and smile your troubles away, just like the great Dr. Seuss suggested: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”  (Read more https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/smile-power-day/ )

Shrove Tuesday (known in some countries as Pancake Tuesday) is a day in February or March preceding Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent), which is celebrated in some countries by consuming pancakes

Today’s Task ( Day 9)  Share your smiley face pancakes with someone!

You can make your own pancakes or buy then, then decorate to make a smiley face and then share some with your friends and families as you enjoy your “smilence” moment eating the pancake.

7 Fun facts about pancake day!

  1. The largest pancake ever made measured 15 metres and weighed in at three tonnes – you’ll need a lot of sugar and lemon for that one.
  2.  The most flips anyone has ever done with a pancake is 349 flips in two minutes. That’s ‘flipping’ good!
  3.  Over a lifetime, an average person will eat 7,300 eggs.
  4.  We all have our preferences for pancake toppings but the weirdest pancake toppings have to be sour cream and caviar, ketchup and mustard, peanut butter and ice cream, coco pops and cream, cream cheese and strawberries.
  5.  The Guiness World Record for the most pancakes served in eight hours is 34,818.
  6.  Before baking soda was invented, cooks often used fresh snow as it contained ammonia, which helped the pancakes come out fluffy and soft.
  7.  It is customary in France to touch the handle of the frying pan and make a wish while the pancake is turned, holding a coin in one hand

Put on your Crown of Smiles (Day 8) Your smiley cup of smilence moments

Today’s Task ( Day 8)  Your smiley cup of smilence moments

Two years ago, I started to collect smiley cups which I have at various places in our home/ I also carry a pack of 6 with me each day so that I can give it to people to cheer them up.  The other day I just posted the cup on my friends facebook page and I had a lot of response from her friends who wanted to buy some. So I decided to sell them to help raise funds for my Happiness Project I set up in 2009.

Today’s task – You can either make your own smiley face cup by getting a plain plastic cup and use a  permanent marker pen to draw up a smiley face. You then need to put the cup where you can see it each day. Every day try to write down on a piece of paper things that made you smile or a positives affirmation.  Every now and then take time to read each piece of paper  to lift up your spirits. By the end of the year I am sure your cup will be over filled with lots of moments that made you smile.

If you wish you could also purchase the smiley cups directly from me-

Today’s Task ( Day 7)  Send a card to a friend day.

As I look back at my life, I realise that friends come and go in and out of our lives for a reason and a season. I actually have friends whom we started primary school together and even though we may not physically be with each other, thank God for social media, as we still stay in touch.

So today, why not make a card of smiles and send it to a friend and help them have a reason to smile today and everyday.

Today’s Task ( Day 6)  Sharing  your Smile

One of the things I love to do each day as I go out, is counting the number of people who smile back at me, as it makes me feel great that I have helped to make  someone smile.

As you go smiling, don’t worry if people don’t smile back, as it is quite normal. I even had one lady who asked me what my problem was just because I smiled at her!!

Put on your Crown of Smiles (Day 5) Creating your place of #Smilence

  • Welcome to the 5th Day of Crown of Smiles – Creating your place of Smilence

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s blog

Today’s Task ( Day 5)  Creating your place of  Smilence

When I am feeling a bit low, I have different places I can go to,  as I believe that sometimes just changing your environment can help you to feel much better.

Our Local Promenade –  When I go to our local promenade, I feel very relaxed as I can sit down, watch the boats go by and as I watch the river,  I spend time imagine myself on a boat going on a cruise to different parts of the world where I meet new people, have new experiences and just have fun. I can also feed the ducks, and make new friends as most times people will just come and sit next to me and start to chat.  In this picture below, I met these two wonderful singers and we had such fun!

picsbyjason

Over to you now – Where is your place of Smilence?

Remember its a place you can go to chill out, change your environment and zap up some energy, enthusiasm and passion for life.

I have spoken to a lot of people about this place of  Smilence, and here area few suggestions-

  1. A small area in your bedroom
  2. In your garden
  3. In your car

You could just use your imagination and visualise yourself in different places

Wishing you  a  peaceful day – May the smile be with you and do let me know how you get on. You can even post picture of your place of  #Smilence. For me this is my other place of #Smilence I visit regularly using my imagination
