The Gift of Confidence Box for children

As a parent or carer, we can encourage and support our child to be more confident and resilient so that they can be able to cope with everyday life. One of the tools I have developed to help is the Gift of Confidence Box

The idea of this Gift of Confidence  Box, is that children can put in various items which will help boost their self esteem and confidence. It is a box that they can build on and use it throughout their journey into adulthood. I also offer coaching ans support to help children with their self esteem and confidence.

 

Things you’ll need

  1. Empty box or paper to make your own box with blank A4 Cards or paper
  2. Glue
  3. Gift wrap paper
  4. Scissors
  5. Coloured stripes of paper
  6. Small hand held mirror
  7. Plain T-shirt
  8. Fabric Pens

 

How to make the  Gift of  Confidence Box

This is best done with the supervision of an adult

1. Decorate  box

Get your empty box and decorate it or you can use wrapping paper to cover your box or you can Make a box using plain paper or Cardboard

2. Confidence affirmations

Write down on strips of paper things that will help boost your confidence e.g

  • Everyday I feel confident
  • When I do my school work I feel confident
  • When I look in the mirror I feel confident

3.. Personalised Confident T-shirt

Use the fabric pens and write something as bold and colourful as you can that represents confidence and put in your box  Every time you wear the Tshirt imagine you have special confidence power and believe you can do whatever you wish if you put your mind to it.

 

4. Put your Small Mirror in the box

When you look in the mirror, pretend that you are confident,  act like a confident person  would.  Then say this our loud as many times as you can.

5. Other things you can put in your box

Put in your box any awards you get from school or  the clubs you go to

Fun time recording my #BoomBoomSong

I have always wanted a beat to my fun #boomboom song, so I was very excited when i went to an event in our local market and met a guy called James who runs Poemland. After dicussing with him, he directed me to a young sound engineer Karly Addy.

 

I went to the studio to meet him, and the first thing he asked was what key I sing and what genere the song one. I smile and replied  “I really don’t understand what you mean, I am just someone who loves to sing and do it badly but in a fun way. ” He gave me that “Its ok I understand” look and this made me feel good.

We first of all worked on the beat I had in mind, I watched as he started to put the beat together. It was very technical but I enjoyed watching him trying things and ask me each time if the beat was ok.

Once we had the beat,he then asked me to sing the song – gosh I felt sorry for his ears as I started to sing. He was very patient and got me singing till I got to a bearable version which I was please with, but will continue to work on my voice and perhaps get a professional singer to sing the song for me.

I hope you dance to the beat of the song, and by the end of this month,my singing may have improved.

Relax when things don’t go as planned

If you have really tried everything possible to get a certain thing you want to achieve, and it just hasn’t worked out as planned, you need to stop trying so hard even though you may be feeling disappointed.

How to address being disappointed:-

  • Acknowledge that you are feeling disappointed and the reasons why you are feeling this way.
  • What can you learn from this disappointment?
  • How can you adapt and move forward from this disappointment?
  • Find out from your network of friends and family or from using Google how others have coped with a similar disappointment.
  • Have faith that this is all for your good
  • Avoid dwelling on things that you can’t change, and focus on what you can.
  • Challenge any unhelpful thoughts  For example, if you find yourself thinking, “I will always fail,” then you can challenge this untrue and unhelpful thought. Try telling yourself something like, “Things might not always go my way, but if I keep working towards my goals then I will achieve them.

 

Moving forward

Maybe the timing’s not right. Maybe it wasn’t in your best interests. Maybe while one door seems to be closing, another is opening.  It’s time for you to accept and adapt to whatever is happening now.

Life is not a straight and easy path. It is filled with twists and turns. Each day we are learning how to adapt to our daily lives and challenges.

Have a morning routine that will fuel your day with good vibes

Your daily habits and routine will lead you to great success and your morning routine can change your life . It will  help you feel more productive, accomplished and set your day for greatness as you move nearer to achieving your goal.

Make it a point to claim the early hours of the day as your “me” time, filled with  various activities that will set the tone for a happy and  productive day.

What time do you wake up?

You have to decide the best time for you to wake up and set your alarm. For me, I wake up at 5am every morning and have done so for years.

How much time do you need for your morning routine?

This is entirely up to you. I initially started with  15 minutes and gradually increased the minutes and over the years, I spend a minimum of an hour  in my morning routine.

Start small, do your routine at the same time every morning and after a few days it will become an automatic routine.

Here is my morning routine, and I hope it will help you to create yours.

Remember I have been doing this for years. You need to create something based on the time you have. Why not start with 11 minutes each day for 2 weeks and then gradually increase the time you spend.

Wake up – 5am

1.Stretching

Stretching in the morning improves circulation, increases your  energy level,. blood flow to your brain and sharpens your concentration in the morning.

2. I then use this Tony Robbins priming routine to fuel my day. It is about 10 minutes and involves, breathing,  visualisation and moving. why not try it and let me know how you get on

3.Read something inspirational – I read a daily devotional called Word for today and then I read stories of people who have overcome some major tragedy in their lives so that I can learn how they coped.

4..Write my blog – I do love sharing with others through my blogging

5.Exercise – go out for a run/walk/gym for at least 30 minutes

6. Eat a healthy breakfast

7. Quality Time  with my family

8 Review my schedule for the day , visualise having a good day and being thankful of all the opportunities that the day holds for me backed with positive affirmations

Now I am ready to start my day fuelled with energy and positive vibes

Confident Queen goes to Carnival

This year my dream came true of once again dressing up and being part of our local Northfleet annual carnival. I had this vision of me wearing an outfit similar to the one worn by Queen Nefertiti (c. 1370 – c. 1330 BC) who was an Egyptian Queen and the Great Royal Wife (chief consort) of Akhenaten, an Egyptian Pharaoh.

My lovely friend Josephine who owns her own label Ethnic Royal,

( https://www.ethnicroyals.co.uk) was able to get the outfit made for me which I am very pleased with. I love the style and their are various ways I can wear the outfit when I attend other events,

 

 

I also loved the way our local taxi drivers  raised some money to provide refreshments for us during the parade. It is such a good gesture which they do every year.

The not so Happy Mr Happy

Today, I had another  request to cheer someone  whom

I was told was a very miserable person to work with.

I geared myself up, and as I approached to where the  man was sitting, I noticed he was drinking tea from his Mr Happy mug (  in my mind I thought he cant be that miserable to have such a mug)  I smiled and greeted him,. He just gave me a blank look and said rather harshly “what do you want”? I explained I was around to see how he was getting on with work etc. He then spent what to me seemed ages to explain why he hated his job, and that the only happiness he has is when he goes home.

I tried to put a positive spin on the conversation – he just said, “don’t waste your time with me, I enjoy being a misery and I don’t like people like you who think they can come and make me  laugh when I don’t want to. You better go back home and keep taking your happy pills”

I was a bit taken aback by his response, but  just smiled and said “It’s ok, I appreciate this may not be right for you now,  I hope you have a good day.”  It made me realise their is a time for every purpose .

His supervisor who was nearby thanked me for trying and then I went on to do a taster session to some other of their employees who gave positive feedback.

  1. Take time to write down at least one thing you would like to achieve.
  2. Research others who have already achieved it and learn how they did it.
  3. Make a plan of steps you will take each day to achieve your goal.
  4. Get an accountability partner who will help, support and encourage you.

How our laughter club helped someone develop a new routine

At our laughter club we always spend a few minutes where we all discuss what is currently going on in our lives so that we could support and encourage each other.

On Saturday a lady came and said she had been feeling down and that her husband forced her to come to the club. From our discussion it turned out she just needed to start a new morning routine to help her get out of bed.

Together we came up with a routine to start with.

  • She would put the alarm near their bedroom door so it would force her to get up.
  • She would go out each morning for a 10 minutes walk round the park
  • She and her husband will do one minute of laughter each morning

 

On Sunday I saw this lady at our local church and her face was glowing with happiness.  Her husband said to me   “What did you do to my wife? She is a different woman”  she is very happy. He said also they tried the growling laughter exercise and loved it. This wonderful lady hugged me so much, and then went on to tell others about our club and invited them to the next session.
