Experience 31 Days of Smilence in August

happyaugust

What is the One Minute Smilence
The one minute Smilence is a simple way for us all to take time out of our busy and stressed out schedule, and spend a few minutes thinking about things that make us smile, and then spend a minute smiling and appreciaiting the fact that so long as we are alive there is hope and many reasons for us to smile.

Why I created the One Minute Smilence
One minute Smilence was created by me Confident Queen. Initially this was something I did for myself at times when I found it hard to even smile because life seemed overwhelming at a time when I was in financial difficulties and just could not see light at the end of the tunnel. I find that by me dedicating some time at the start and end of each day to focus on reasons for me to smile, I started to feel better, and realise that Life is a gift, and that though life has its ups and downs, their is always, always something to make you smile each day.

How to do your One Minute Smilence
In this month of August, I thought it would be a good idea for the next 31 days to take time out each day and do your one minute smilence. Get a note book to write down each day the reasons why you smiled each day. To make it fun why not get 31 blank paper plates and each day write the reasons you smiled on the paper plate and then hang it up so that by the end of each month you can then have all the 31 paper plates hanging up. I bet you will feel good after this. To start, you will need to find a quiet place so that you can focus better. You can do this anytime of the day though I find it better to do first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

Now it’s time for you to do your One Minute Smilence
1.Sit down in a quiet place take time to slowly breathe in and out.
2.Relax and start to recall and say what you are grateful for and thankful for in your life right now (you can write these down if you wish)
3.Now write down on your note book, paper or paper plate, the things that make you smile. You can use pictures and images to help with this.
4.When you have finished, set your timer for a minute and now just spend a minute focussing on things that make you smile and keep smiling for the whole minute .
5.After the minute has gone – just shout excitedly “ WooHoo BoomBoom2
6.You can also take a selfie and post on twitter #oneminutesmilence
7.Now do this everyday for the next 31 days of August
8.As you go our each day remember to collect moments that make you smile and share your smile with as many people as you can.

Follow me on Twitter – @confident _queen and do let me know how you get on.

The 21 Days sadness diet© Day 9 (I am willing to change)

willingtochange

Method we will use is called “IGROWS” turn our sadness into Joy.

(Issue, Goals, Reality, Options, Willingness and Smiles)

Welcome back

Thank you so much for joining in our Sadness Diet and the journey to happier times.

Feedback from Yesterday

I hope yesterday you managed to spend time to look at your Options when it comes to dealing with things that make you sad. Options is all about looking at various things we can do to help us solve our problems, then look at the Obstacles – things that are stopping us to do things and then looking at the solution that will best suit what we are trying to achieve.

Remember if you need help, you can email me genny@confidentqueen.co.uk

Today – Using the IGROWS model, we will look at the letter W – which stands for WILLINGNESS

How willing are you to make the necessary changes

By examining your current reality and exploring the options, you will now have a good idea of how you can achieve your goal. That’s great – but in itself, this may not be enough. The final step is for you to commit to specific actions in order to move forward towards your goal. You could also get a good friend or mentor who you can be accountable to – I find that when I am trying to do something to speak to one of my friend’s who is a “Just do it person” she really motivates, encourage and support me.

Activity 1

Today, what I will like you to do is to commit yourself to start doing something towards achieving your goals. You will need to get your diary out and write down things you will be doing each day to achieve your goals. At the end of each week, you should review your progress so that you can monitor how you are doing. Remember not to beat yourself if you have not been able to complete a particular task. Just keep going, and remember all you are doing is for your own good and happiness. You also need to include in your review a celebration for what you have achieved. The celebration can be something as small as shouting “WooHoo, I’ve done it” or having a special treat.

Activity 2

Please spend time to review all we have done so far and email me or write on this blog any comments you may have.

Instant Feel Good

1.Sit down

2.Breathe in slowly and Breathe out Slowly ( do this a couple of times)

3.Say – I am so grateful and happy to be alive to see another day.

4.Think and focus on something that makes you feel happy or my favourite “wake up I feel happy boom, boom, I feel like dancing around boom boom, and now I am dancing line no one’s watching boom, boom”

5.Smile – Just spend a few seconds smiling, and then I want you to give out a couple of big laughs (hahaha)

6. Get your Gift of a smile box, and make use of the items as you continue to feel good

See you tomorrow and may the SMILE always be with you!

Welcome back

Thank you so much for joining in our Sadness Diet and the journey to happier times

Method we will use is called “IGROWS” to help us find ways to happier days.

(Issue, Goals, Reality, Options, Willingness and Smiles

IGROWS model is a method of coaching I initially learnt when I did a coaching course at the Coaching Academy. The model was originally developed in the 1980s by performance coach Sir John Whitmore, , have also helped to develop it.

A good way of thinking about the IGROWS Model is to think about how you’d plan a journey (the issue) You decide where you are going (the goal), and establish where you currently are (your current reality). You then explore various routes (the options) to your destination. In the final step, establishing the (will or willigness), you ensure that you’re committed to making the journey, and are prepared for the obstacles that you could meet on the way then the (smiles) is where you will be celebrating your achievements.

Today – we will focus on where you are now and then show you how to create your own Gift of a smile box. So going back to our IGROWS model, we will look at the letter R – which stands for REALITY what exactly is going on in your life right now that is making you sad?

In your book just right down your first thoughts and complete the following–

Activity 1

This is what is happening right now in my life

These are the steps I have taken towards e.g being happier

Gift of a smile Box

Activity 2 – I hope you managed to get your empty shoe box which we are going to use to create your special box. Which you are going to put various items that will make you feel good. (You will see the example in the image on this blog) Example of other things you could put in your box:

A small mirror – to remind yourself that your are unique, special and an original

A rubber band – to remind you that sometimes you have to come out of your comfort zone

A collection of positive affirmations – As you read these, it will help you to have a positive mindset

The idea is that you put the box somewhere you can see it, so that when you are feeling down you can use the items as a pick me up as you also do your instant feel good activity below:

Instant Feel Good

1.Sit down

2.Breathe in slowly and Breathe out Slowly ( do this a couple of times)

3.Say – I am so grateful and happy to be alive to see another day.

4.Think and focus on something that makes you feel happy or my favourite “wake up I feel happy boom, boom, I feel like dancing around boom boom, and now I am dancing line no one’s watching boom, boom”

5.Smile – Just spend a few seconds smiling, and then I want you to give out a couple of big laughs (hahaha)

  1. Get your Gift of a smile box, and make use of the items as you continue to feel good

See you tomorrow and may the smile be with you always.
