Spreading smiles on #WorldSmileDay

I woke up on world smile day Friday 6th October feeling positve and in a good mood ready to spread smiles to as many people as I could.

Things I did

  1. Smiling at  everyone I met on the road  whilst walking to the bus stop

2. On the bus I announced to the driver and some of the passengers that it was World Smile Day and this started the conversation about what makes you smile. I really enjoyed this, and as i left the bus i just said in aloud voice so everyone could hear  – Have a nice day – May the smile be with you – someone replied – and always with you. This made me smile.

3.Got some  ladies on the train to help me make my world smile day banner

4.  Enjoyed a chat and a hot drink with a friend

5. Talking  to people about world smile day and pictures of people smiling in the town centre where I live. #LoveGravesend

I hope you always have a a reason to smile

How to develop the confidence to turn your life around!

abetterlife

Sometimes, life can feel so hard, especially as each year we are getting older.  Each year, as my birthday was coming nearer, I used to get really stressed and scared as I felt I was a failure and regretted all the things that I should have done with my life and did not do. It took me a while to have a  more positive attitude and realise that things happened the way it did, because it is just part of life. Nobody really knows what the future holds. We can make all our plans which is great, but sometimes unexpected things happen which messes up our plans.

Remember your current circumstance did not manifest overnight. There are years of thoughts feelings and actions behind what has been in place in your life, so be patient as you work to turn it all around.  The key is to stay persistent in your will for the change while working to pass the tests of patience and faith.

Acceptance

This does not mean you condone what has been happening or you want it for tomorrow, rather only that you are finally ready to acknowledge it fully and end any of the denial.

Define the new you

You must see and believe in a completely new you so that life can harmonize with this vision. So for me, I see myself as healthy, with lots of energy and focussing on being the best version of myself and armed with a positive attitude to all I try to do.

Write down what you want and visualise it

Imagine it in your head without restriction. Focus on the experiences that will fulfill you in the greatest way. Once you have a vision of what you do want you must begin to create it by researching how you are going to do this and then start taking simple steps.  You can create a vision board – cur out pictures and words of the things you want to experience and look at them every day as you day dream achieving your goals.

Build you team dream team

Over the years, I realised that I struggled a lot in doing certain things, so I have got myself a dream team – which is made up of people who are positive and have the necessary skills and experience that will help me fulfil my desires.

Be committed and willing to make the changes you need to make

You must demonstrate the will to experience a new life through NEW ACTIONS. You must be willing to get in that uncomfortable space to create change and build the new conditions that lead you to a new life.  By having a dream team means you can also have people who you can be  accountable to and this will help to motivate and inspire you to keep going even when you face setbacks and challenges,

When Dad can’t even afford to buy you an Ice Cream!

ICecreamvan

A while back ago, I was speaking to my friend about life in general and some of the challenges we have faced and the lessons learnt. My friend Sam then said to me that one of the most challenging times was when at the age 0f 45 he lost his job, and he then decided to set up his own business which despite all his experiences and plans for the business to be a success, the business was a disaster which also left him with huge debts that he could not handle. That and so many other challenges lead to him leaving his wife and two children as he felt he could not be the father and husband he had been when he had a job.

Sam said that one of the things he continued to do was to take the children to spend some time with him when he could.

On a lovely sunny Saturday he took both children to the park, and they where all having fun just playing about. All of a sudden they could hear the sound of the Ice Cream van, and saw some of the children and the parents running to get some ice cream.   The two children looked at him excitedly as they too wanted an ice cream, Sam felt sad as he remembered he had no money to buy the ice cream. He told the kids that he was sorry but he had no money to get them the ice cream.

One of the children started to cry and shout as all he wanted was the ice cream. Getting a bit embarrassed as people started to look at them, Sam then took his son up so that they could get into his car and go back home. In the car the children where crying and one even said to him “ I hate you dad, why cant you get me an ice cream”? Sam wanted to cry, but just drove the children back to their mother.   Sam then drove off a few yards and just started to cry as he felt useless and hopeless that he could not even afford to buy an Ice Cream for his two children.

As Sam recalled this incident to me he started to cry and I could only but hug him and say “ Yes it must have been bad, but look at you five years on, things have changed for the better, and you can now buy your children an Ice Cream”,

WHY I WANT  TO NOW HAVE AN ICE CREAM VAN

Since then, one of my aim is to get an Ice Cream Van so that during the summer months I can drive around especially to deprive areas to deliver free Ice Cream and Gift of smile boxes to cheer people up!
