Why you need to mange your times if you want to achieve your goals
Time management is important for your personal life, career and business success. It teaches you how to manage your time effectively and make the most of it. so that you can achieve your goals. If you don’t manage your time, you will find yourself being stressed as you rush to completed tasks at the last minute and this will also have an effect on all areas of your life.
Do you really have to do that activity?
Life today presents so many distractions, and therefore, it is very easy to lose time on unimportant activities. Ask yourself, is watching this or that TV program, reading this or that gossip or participating in a certain activity is going to add anything to your life. Is the time spent on a particular activity well spent, or is just a waste of time and energy?
Before you do something, give yourself time to think about it. Yesterday, my plan was to stay home, relax, de –clutter my room and then cook a healthy Sunday dinner for my boys and I. At about 11am, I found out their was an event which I wanted to attend. As I was getting ready to go, suddenly, I had to think why I wanted to go to the event – after a few minutes I realised that if I went to the event it meant that I won’t be able to spend my precious time with my boys, and I would have had to pay out at least £30 which I had not budgeted for and this will then have an effect on the things I had budgeted for. So in the end I chose not to go to the event.
Have a to do list
Having a to-do list puts some structure around your tasks and acts as a driver to get things done. Make sure your to do lists, covers also areas of your life so that you can have balance. Always plan your time well and don’t waste it on useless matters. Be careful not to procrastinate, and do everything in the best way you can, with focus and attention, as this will help you achieve your gools.
- Write a to-do list at the start of each week – and update it every day so you’re always on top of the tasks that are needed.
- Use a notebook, your smart phone or a cloud-based app so you always have a list of what needs doing, wherever you are.
- Tick off or scribble through the tasks you’ve completed – it makes it easier to see what’s left to complete and you get the satisfaction of seeing how much you’ve achieved this week (giving you a personal sense of achievement)
