Their was a time in my life when I let the negative words of one individual drag me down to the extent that I felt useless, unloved and lost my self esteem and confidence so much so that that one day I threw away all the mirrors in my house and only had one small mirror in the bathroom..
I just could not bare to look at myself in the mirror as each time I did, I could hear the words in my ear “ you are not good, you are worthless and no one will ever love you.”
Things changed one day whilst I was driving I was stuck in traffic and just in front of me a few yards on the left I saw some large mirrors outside a shop. All of a sudden, I felt an urge to get one. I just parked the car and went over and got a long full mirror. I had this kind off excitement bubbling inside me, that I could not understand. I remember going home, putting the mirror outside my bedroom and I just kept looking at my reflection and was overcome by smiles and inner joy.
From that day on, I would wake up each morning, look at myself in the mirror, smile, and say “ I am unique special, and will no longer let the negative words of one individual drag me down.” We have to learn to embrace, accept and love ourselves, along with all our flaws and imperfections.
I came across this Powerful new Serena Williams ad for Nike and this inspired me when she says : “I’ve never been the right kind of woman. Oversized and overconfident. Too mean if I don’t smile. Too black for my tennis whites. Too motivated for motherhood. But I am proving, time and time again, there’s no wrong way to be a woman.
Hope you have a good day. Remember you are unique, special and destined for greatness. Be confident, Be happy and always find a reason to smile,
