- Welcome to the 11th Day of Crown of Smiles – Make a friend day
I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s blog
Remember that each day you have to get into the habit of:-
- Putting on your Crown of Smiles
- Spend 5 minutes for your Smilence Moments each day
- Put your box of Smilence in a prominent place or take it around you as a way to boost your Smilence level
Today’s Task ( Day 9) Make a friend day and share many Smilence Moments
Smilence moments – are precious moments that we spend with friends doing very simple things that make you happy. The other day, my friend and I just decided to go for a walk, even though it was raining. At one point, we laughed as we jumped in the puddles of water, I even started singing and dancing in the rain as if I had no care in the world. It was fun, and memory I will cherish forever.
Make a Friend day is the perfect way to break out of the overworked and just plain stressed out state of mind. We are busy leading such hectic lives, we barely have time for ourselves, much less maintaining old friendships. Whether old or new, friends serve an important role in our lives. Friends are our confidants. Real friends love us and like us for who we really are – the good, the bad and the ugly. And the older we get, the more valuable those friendships become. Make a Friend Day, is the perfect opportunity to begin a new friendship. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/make-a-friend-day/
Choose your friends wisely. As you befriend more people, you may find that some are easier to get along with than others. While you always give people the benefit of the doubt, sometimes you realize that certain friendships are unhealthy, such as if a person is obsessively needy or controlling towards you, constantly critical, or introducing dangers or threats into your life.
Cherish those friends you make who are a positive influence in your life, and do your best to be a positive influence in theirs
7 Ways to make a friend today! #MakeaFriendDay
- Be confident. Many people are not very confident. They are reserved, timid and afraid to start a conversation. Make the effort and start talking no matter how uncomfortable it feels
- Make some cards with positive messages and as you go out today give them out to random people with a smile.
- Volunteer your time and make a difference to someone
- Start a conversation with people – If you are sitting next to someone on the train, you could start by saying hello, my names is …..happy make a friend day
- Make small talk. Keep the 30% talking/70% listening, ratio in mind during small talk when possible
- Join an organization or club with people who have common interests
- Start a friendship group – when I became a single parent, I decided to set up a friendship group for single parents in 2009 as I wanted to meet like minded people and share experiences. The group still goes on and I have made so many new friends
